The most beautiful flying creatures, to me, are moths and butterflies. Many people would agree that butterflies are lovely, but assume that moths are poor cousins – just drab little brown things. I wanted to give moths their very own showcase painting, which is why this watercolor was created. I didn’t choose the most spectacular or colorful moths, just a few I find very handsome and that I had never before painted.
