Butterflies, Moths, Caterpillars

Butterflies (and moths) are a recurring theme in my artwork. I don’t fight it. I had never before, however, painted caterpillars. I liked the idea of a field of creatures surrounded by a border of related creatures, as in “Amazon Insects”. Each creature in that painting is from the Amazon, but the butterflies form a border for the rest of the insects. I reversed that idea in this watercolor and surrounded a variety of butterflies and moths with unrelated, but visually intriguing caterpillars.
