I was delighted to learn that Grand Staircase won Third Place in the NLAPW Biennial photo competition in Iowa this spring. NLAPW is the National League of American Pen Women, Inc, a non-profit organization of professional women in the Arts, Music and Letters. I had never attended a Pen Women Biennial before, and it was a very worth-while experience. It was great to meet other Pen Women from across the country and to feel much more connected to the organization as a whole. (Also, I’d never been to Des Moine, IA.) I’ve been a member of Golden Gate-Marin Pen Women, our local branch, since 2012. I definitely hope to attend the next Biennial, wherever it is, since it will be the 50th Anniversary Biennial.
