Marin Baroque presented “Dido & Aeneas” on June 26 and 27, 2015. It was a fully staged opera performed outdoors in the courtyard of the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo. The production was intimate and charming, with witches, sorcerers, dancers, sailers, heroes and heroines. There was a wonderful ensemble of instrumentalists as well as all the singers. I sang in the chorus. For one scene, I had to sneak away unseen and dash around the church, upstairs, and out onto a balcony overlooking the stage. From there, a quartet of us sang the echos while the rest of the chorus below sang one of the witches’ numbers: “In Our Deep Vaulted Cell”. The whole thing was great fun, and very well received by the audiences. As always, I created the artwork and graphic design for the poster, postcard, ads and program.
