Digital Art
Flora’s Holiday, a surreal landscape, features bits and pieces of photos I took while traveling in Italy with my husband in 2013. All the flowers, however, are from photos I took in my garden. (The mass of flowers under the central figure, as well as the scattered flowers in the background, were put together bit by bit from innumerable digitally isolated blossoms from many different photos.) The large purple lisianthus behind the central figure is one of my favorites, and it was the inspiration for a large watercolor painting in 1993.
When I am creating a piece of digital art, I feel as if I am telling a story, myth or fairytale without words. I follow my intuition and make artistic judgments until the piece feels complete and meaningful to me. However, I leave the interpretation to the viewer’s imagination.
“Flora’s Holiday” is in my Shop in the Prints, Gifts, Decor category. You can order the image on all sorts of things. I love the way it looks printed on aluminum, which is under “wall art”.
Flora’s Holiday won an award in the “Visions” exhibit at Marin Society of Artists in May 2014.
