I received a very unusual invitation! It was from the curator of Archaelological Records, who asked me to participate in creating a bestiary of animals of the Parco Naturale dei Monti Lucretilli, near Rome, Italy. Seventy artists worldwide were invited to take part in the project, which supports “L’Aquila Reale: Art and Nature Center of Civitella di Licenza” (https://laquilarealelicenza.org/). An exhibit of the artwork will be at a museum in Civitella as well as in the Orsini Castle in the village of Licenza. The creature I chose was a female stag beetle, Lucanus cervus.
