22×30 watercolor
A profusion of summer garden flowers! I painted this floral watercolor in the summer of 1990. I only used flowers from my garden, but they weren’t all blooming at once. I built up the composition slowly, over time. As each type of flower bloomed, I picked a few stems and brought them into my studio. Over the course of the summer, I kept adding different flowers here and there in the painting. Finally, I had a completely lush pictoral collection of that summer’s garden.
Summer ’90 won a Merit Award in a juried exhibit in 2002.
