Marin Baroque is presenting Venus & Adonis by John Blow – the first (surviving) English opera. More a pastorale than grand opera, it’s only an hour and a half long. Besides wonderful soloists and chorus from Marin Baroque, the performance features three San Francisco Renaissance Dancers, plus children from Mill Valley Middle School as Apprentice Cupids! It should be absolutely charming. I’ll be singing in the small chorus.
Performances are Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21 at 8 pm in the Outdoor Courtyard Theater of the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo. (72 Kensington Road, San Anselmo, CA 94960).
