Autumn Crepe Myrtle

I finally got back to the watercolor painting that I began this fall. Christmas holidays and family visits kept me busy, and then I got rather distracted making the new miniature shoes…

Now all the autumn leaves are gone and the first flowers of spring are beginning to blossom – which happens in February here. No more projects to keep me away, so I went back in the studio to put in the final touches. The very last detail was filling the negative spaces with robin’s egg blue. The view of incredibly colorful leaves against a blue sky was what inspired me to do this painting in the first place. It certainly will brighten up a room when it’s framed!
