24×24 watercolor; 32×32 framed
Moths are usually assumed to be the dull, drab cousins of butterflies, the well-known beauties of the natural world. Nothing could be farther from the truth! There are many remarkable species of colorful moths, and I thought it was about time that I devoted a painting to them. Those depicted here are not the most spectacular ones. I wanted to choose only moths which I had never before painted, which required a different selection process. These are some that I found to be handsome in pattern and color, and were new to my portfolio.
